World Mental Health Day 2020
This year’s World Mental Health Day came not only on October 10th, but also at a time when our lives have considerably changed due to the COVID19 pandemic, increased awareness of racial injustices, and the forced readjustments of our goals and expectations for this year. As we focus on mental health, it is ok to acknowledge when we are not ok. However, these challenges and changes have presented us with opportunities to increase how we are managing our self-care and ensuring our cup is full before we can pour into others and continue throughout the last quarter of the year.
Whether it is going to therapy, taking a walk, enjoying a nice cup of coffee each morning, or spending time with supports at a socially safe distance, adjusting our self-care practices to fit the “new normal” can still provide the investment into our mental wellness that we deserve.
